RESILIENCE IN ACTION: Recap of the #nopriceonculture Protest and What Comes Next

Dear PlushSE16 Community,

We stand united, our voices echoing through the streets, as we came together for the first #nopriceonculture protest. The energy was palpable, the resilience undeniable, and the commitment to preserving our community's culture unwavering, although we were few our presence sparked a massive interest in face-to-face conversations on the issue of displacement.

Recapping the #nopriceonculture Protest: A Vibrant Display of Unity

The streets around PlushSE16 were alive with passionate passersby, businesses, and community members rallying to and from the Millwall game and members of the community that stood in the cold and engaged in social contact against the loss of culture, jobs, and the heart of our neighbourhood.

As we waved our SavePlushSE16 protest boards high and chanted in unison, we became a force that couldn't be ignored. Armed with the vocals on a PA system taking turns to upload the message, it was a step into what many of us find uncomfortable.

For the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups, we are not the first to take a stand and march the streets especially in the UK but disrupt our peace and then suddenly the unusual can quickly become our norm especially when standing up for the right reasons and against injustice.

The images captured on this day tell a story of resilience, strength, and a shared determination to protect the places that make our community unique. From heartfelt speeches to creative expressions of support, the protest was a powerful first testament to the spirit of PlushSE16.

What Comes Next: Stay Tuned for Future Protests

The #nopriceonculture movement doesn't end here. The protest was just the beginning—a rallying cry that echoed sign-ups, and conversations through our streets and reverberated beyond our community. The fight continues to protect our local businesses, preserve cultural spaces, and stand against displacement.
